Atmospheric Deposition emissions and how to reduce them
A quick summary of why atmospheric deposition represents part of my emissions and how I can address it.
- Where do atmospheric deposition emissions come from?
Ammonia from fertiliser or manure volatilises and redeposits onto soils, indirectly contributing to nitrous oxide emissions.
- How can I reduce my atmospheric deposition emissions?
- Incorporate fertiliser into the soil to limit ammonia loss.
- Use stabilised fertilisers treated with urease inhibitors.
- Time applications to coincide with cool, moist conditions.
