Here is the key things you need to know about the declaration phase of your carbon project.
What is Project Registration and Declaration?
The Project Registration phase is when we have submitted your project application to the Clean Energy Regulator, but it has not yet been approved. When your project is in the registration phase it is not officially confirmed yet and you are waiting for declaration.
Project Declaration is once your project is approved by the Clean Energy Regulator. This is when your project and the planned activities can officially start. Until you receive confirmation that your project has been declared you should not have begun your project activities yet. We will inform you when declaration has occurred for your project and you can start.
How long does it take for a project to be Declared?
The general rule is that declaration will take around 90 days (3 months), but it depends on the regulator. They aim to have all applications looked at within 90 days, but if there is questions it may join the que again and push the timeline out a further 90 days. We do everything we can to make sure your application gets through on the first try and as fast as possible, but it's out of our control how long it takes for it to be processed by the regulator.
For this reason don't be alarmed if you haven't heard any updates on your project months after your application has been submitted. We will let you know if we hear an update on your application or when we have received confirmation of it being declared.
What should you be doing while waiting for declaration?
The best way to spend this time while you are waiting for your project to be declared is to spend it setting your self up for success and getting ready to hit the ground running once your project is declared. What happens after declaration?
Once your project has been declared you can start your on farm activities and we will start our compliance and measurement procedures. This includes sampling, annual reviews and crediting which occur each year to measure and assess your total carbon stocks ➡️ Click here to read more about how this works
