Deferred ACCU Balance – FAQs

The Deferred ACCU Balance enables AgriProve landholders to access Marketplace products and services upfront, with later repayment using Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) earned from their soil carbon project.

1.  What is a ‘Deferred ACCU Balance’?

It’s a payment option for eligible AgriProve landholders with declared soil carbon projects.  You can access selected Marketplace products and services now, and repay later with Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) generated by your project.

2.  How does it work?

Once your project is declared by the Clean Energy Regulator and registered on the AgriProve Platform, you may receive a ‘Deferred ACCU Balance’.  This sets a maximum value of goods and services you can access upfront.  The balance is later repaid using ACCUs from your project.

3.  What can I use it for?

Approved Marketplace products and services, such as:

  • CeresTag livestock monitoring devices
  • Optiweigh in-paddock weighing systems
  • Baseline soil sampling
  • Other eligible soil health and carbon project services

4.  Who is eligible?

AgriProve landholders with an active, declared soil carbon project.  The balance amount depends on your property size and project details.

5.  How is it repaid?

When your project generates ACCUs, these are used to settle the balance.  If after 5 years there aren’t enough ACCUs, you must pay the outstanding balance in AUD.

6.  What are the benefits?

  • Immediate access to tools and services
  • Improved cash flow (no upfront payment)
  • Support for farm and project productivity from the start of your project

7.  Is it a loan or financial product?

No.  It’s not credit, finance, or a loan.  It’s a payment arrangement settled with future ACCUs (or AUD if needed after 5 years).

8.  What if my project produces fewer ACCUs?

If after 5 years there aren’t enough ACCUs, you must pay the shortfall in AUD.  AgriProve will update you on the process.

9.  Can I pay upfront instead?

Yes.  You can choose to pay upfront at purchase.  But once you choose Deferred ACCU Balance, that choice is final for that purchase.

10.  Are there fees or interest?

No.  Marketplace pricing applies, with no hidden fees or interest.

11.  Who do I contact for help?

Reach out to your AgriProve account manager or use the support options on your dashboard.
