Enteric Fermentation emissions and how to reduce them

A quick summary of why Enteric Fermentation represents part of my emissions and how I can address it.

Where do Enteric Fermentation emissions come from?

Methane is produced during digestion in ruminants through enteric fermentation in the rumen. It is expelled primarily through belching and represents a major emissions source in livestock systems.

How can I reduce my Enteric Fermentation emissions?

    • Improve feed efficiency by using high-quality forages or supplements like oils or tannins.
    • Incorporate feed additives such as Asparagopsis seaweed to reduce methane production.
    • Select livestock with higher feed conversion efficiency through breeding programs.
