What locations are eligible for a Water Quality project?
Water quality credit projects under the Grazing Land Management method are available to properties within specific catchment areas. Eligibility is defined by your proximity to a relevant waterway, not just your state or region.
Queensland Reef Catchments
Properties within the following six Great Barrier Reef NRM Regions are eligible for Reef Credits, administered by Eco-Markets Australia: Cape York Peninsula (eastern seaboard draining catchments only), Wet Tropics, Burdekin, Mackay-Whitsunday, Fitzroy, and Burnett-Mary. Credits are issued following a rainfall event once sediment savings have been verified.
Murray-Darling Basin
Properties within the Murray-Darling Basin are eligible for ACWIS water improvement Credits, also administered by Eco-Markets Australia. Your property must be within 250km of the relevant waterway. The Murray-Darling Basin is a priority area for the current MLA/Verterra funded pilot programme, with initial focus on properties within two hours of Albury.
How to check your eligibility
The easiest way to check whether your property falls within an eligible area is to register an expression of interest. Verterra will run a catchment assessment using DROVER Monitor and confirm your eligibility as part of the initial property review. There is no cost and no obligation at this stage.
